 In both the legislature and in his classroom, Gene Pelowski has been
an innovator in the use of technology to make government more responsive and teachers more effective. He chaired the Select Committee on Technology for four
years that put in place the legislative web site, began the laptop project for House members and expanded it to all members and live cable TV broadcasts of the House floor sessions.
He has been recognized in the media for his pioneering use of computer technology in government. He was the first legislator to present a bill to the
House of Representatives using a laptop computer. He was also the the first to use a laptop while on the floor of the house to work more effectively and stay in communication with constituents.

Gene also developed an interactive CD-ROM for use in his high school classrooms. The CD-ROM has proven to be an effective tool for bringing history alive for students. Recognizing the value of this technology, the
