Gene lives in Winona with his wife, Deborah, and two children. Aside from his responsibilities as State Representative, he enjoys working as a history teacher at Winona Senior High School. He
has brought an innovative teaching style to his classroom and has been praised for his development of practical technology for use in the classroom (see Minneapolis
